Health care reforms opposed by majority of industrial distributors
By a four-to-one margin, industrial distributors are solidly against government being part of any health care reform package, according to a survey conducted by Industrial Distribution magazine (www.Inddist.com). The survey of 634 distributors also shows that 89 percent of the respondents are satisfied with their existing health care.
CNIO researchers perform first exome sequencing for non-infiltrating bladder cancer
Bladder cancer represents a serious public health problem in many countries, especially in Spain, where 11,200 new cases are recorded every year, one of the highest rates in the world. The majority of these tumours have a good prognosis - 70-80% five-year survival after diagnosis - and they do not infiltrate the bladder muscle at the time of diagnosis - in around 80% of cases.
U.S. PSA screening efficacy lower than in ERSPC-Rotterdam due to lower testing sensitivity
Fewer prostate cancers were detected by prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening in the U.S. than in a European randomized trial because of lower screening sensitivity, according to a new brief communication published online February 8 in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
Researchers at NIH-FEI Living Lab for Structural Biology achieve breakthrough biological results
FEI is pleased to announce that researchers at the NIH-FEI Living Lab for Structural Biology have achieved breakthrough biological results, using FEI's Titan Krios™ transmission electron microscope (TEM), to elucidate the structural mechanism by which glutamate receptors participate in the transmission of signals between neurons in the brain.
