Legislation grants improve research and employment initiatives in Indiana University medical campus

Indiana University School of Medicine scientists have received more than $12 million in grants funded by the federal economic stimulus legislation, funding that has bolstered both research initiatives and research employment on the medical center campus.

BioScrip revenue increases 6.2% to $262.4 million in second quarter 2015

BioScrip, Inc. today announced 2015 second quarter financial results. Second quarter revenue from continuing operations was $262.4 million and the net loss from continuing operations was $243.2 million, or $3.60 loss per diluted share, which includes a $238.0 million pre-tax goodwill impairment charge resulting from a decline in the Company's common stock price and related market capitalization, as well as an $8.6 million incremental pre-tax bad debt charge predominately attributable to aged accounts receivable balances over 365 days old.

Bundled payment model for knee and hip replacements more likely to work better for larger hospitals

Medicare's experimental mandatory bundled payment model for knee and hip replacements is more likely to yield cost savings when the surgeries are performed in larger hospitals that do more of these procedures, according to a study from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
