Zimmer sued over defective hip implant
Wendy R. Fleishman, a partner in the national plaintiffs' law firm Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, announced that William Kokoszka filed a personal injury lawsuit against Zimmer Inc., the nation's largest producer of orthopedic devices. Following his 2006 hip replacement, Kokoszka suffered constant and devastating pain for over 18 months before having to undergo a second hip replacement surgery due to an allegedly defective hip implant manufactured and sold by Zimmer under the brand name Durom Cup.
Study finds larger decline in life expectancy during 2020 in the US than peer countries
Decreases in life expectancy during 2020 were much larger in the United States than in other high income countries, particularly among Hispanic and Black Americans, finds a study published by The BMJ today.

GTx reports revenue of $1.6 million for second quarter 2011
GTx, Inc. today reported financial results for the second quarter of 2011. The net loss for the quarter ended June 30, 2011 was $10.7 million compared with a net loss of $12.9 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2010.
