Stanford University Medical Center buys ASTI's Ecotones Duet Adaptive Sleep Sound Machines

Adaptive Sound Technologies, Inc. (ASTI) announced today that the Stanford University Medical Center has purchased Ecotones Duet Adaptive Sleep Sound Machines. "It is well known that noise in hospitals affects patient comfort and recovery, as well as staff performance. Caffeine increases eye's ability to produce tears

Researchers at the University of Tokyo's School of Medicine have shown for the first time that caffeine intake can significantly increase the eye's ability to produce tears, a finding that could improve treatment of dry eye syndrome. This common eye condition affects about four million people age 50 and older in the United States.

Nursing Home

A nursing home (also called skilled nursing facility) is a facility or distinct part of an institution whose primary function is to provide medical, continuous nursing, and other health and social services to patients who are not in an acute phase of illness requiring services in a hospital, but who require primary restorative or skilled nursing services on an inpatient basis above the level of intermediate or custodial care in order to reach a degree of body functioning to permit self care in essential daily living.

A skilled nursing facility (SNF) may be a freestanding facility or part of a hospital that has been certified by Medicare to admit patients requiring subacute care and rehabilitation.
