Single-tablet combination of atorvastatin and amlodipine for high blood pressure effective

Adults with high blood pressure and additional risk factors for heart disease may benefit more from taking one tablet rather than two, if their current treatment combines the lipid-lowering medication atorvastatin with the blood pressure-lowering medication amlodipine, researchers reported at the American Heart Association's 8th Scientific Forum on Quality of Care and Outcomes Research in Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke.

CBH first hospital in Central Kentucky to perform transcatheter aortic valve replacement

CBH is the first hospital in Central Kentucky to perform the transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure. Four patients with diseased aortic heart valves who were deemed too sick to withstand conventional open-heart surgery to replace their valves have undergone this new heart valve replacement procedure at Central Baptist Hospital.

Hope for treating relapse to methamphetamine abuse

"Reinstatement of drug-seeking behavior after an extended period of abstinence is the number-one cause of drug-addiction relapse," said Brookhaven neuroanatomist Stephen Dewey, who led the research team. "This animal study suggests that vigabatrin could potentially prevent human methamphetamine addicts from relapsing."
