Millennium submits two VELCADE sNDAs to FDA

Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company with its parent company Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited today announced that it has submitted two supplemental new drug applications (sNDAs) for VELCADEĀ® (bortezomib) for Injection to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The first application seeks to add a subcutaneous route of administration for VELCADE. The second application is for the use of VELCADE in combination with rituximab in patients with relapsed follicular non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).

Antipsychotic drugs may do significantly more harm to Parkinson's disease patients

At least half of Parkinson's disease patients experience psychosis at some point during the course of their illness, and physicians commonly prescribe antipsychotic drugs, such as quetiapine, to treat the condition. However, a new study by researchers at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Michigan Medical School, and the Philadelphia and Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and suggests that these drugs may do significantly more harm in a subset of patients.

A nursing home (also called skilled nursing facility) is a facility or distinct part of an institution whose primary function is to provide medical, continuous nursing, and other health and social services to patients who are not in an acute phase of illness requiring services in a hospital, but who require primary restorative or skilled nursing services on an inpatient basis above the level of intermediate or custodial care in order to reach a degree of body functioning to permit self care in essential daily living.
