Scientists at The University of Nottingham have developed a new substance which could simplify the manufacture of cell therapy in the pioneering world of regenerative medicine.
Universal Hospital Services, Inc. ("UHS"), a leading provider of medical equipment management and service solutions, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement whereby UHS will acquire Emergent Group Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary, PRI Medical Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of mobile medical lasers and surgical equipment, for $8.46 per Emergent Group share in an all-cash transaction.
The Department of Justice announced today that it will not challenge a proposal by the Hospital Value Initiative (HVI) to establish an information exchange program that will provide data on the relative costs and resource efficiency of more than 300 hospitals in California. The department said the proposed information exchange may reduce health care costs by improving competition among hundreds of hospitals in California and facilitating more informed purchasing decisions by group purchasers of health care services.
At issue are charges to public hospitals and clinics that treat a large number of poor patients and a Vermont law that restricts prescription drug data.
The Queensland Government has announced $1 million a year over three years for new autism centers in Bundaberg and Mackay. These will provide care and also early intervention services to the substantial number of autistic children in the region.
