Officials from Geisinger Health System and Bucknell University celebrated the grand opening of the Autism and Developmental Medicine Center, a national model for implementing guidelines for early diagnosis, medication management and treatment options for children with developmental disorders.
As the aging population continues to grow, the need for qualified geriatric care management standards is increasingly critical. To evolve industry standards and ultimately improve profession-recognized qualifications, the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM) introduced new membership categories, including the official "Certified Geriatric Care Manager" category which requires specific higher education levels, supervised work experience and one of four industry-sanctioned professional designations.
The Spanish Government's General Traffic Directorate (DGT) has been insisting for many years on that using the safety belt on the road can save lives. However, most of the drivers associate this warning with the use of such device in the front seats of cars, whereas its use in the rear seats is much more reduced.
With the prodding of new federal legislation, electronic health records (EHRs) are rapidly becoming part of the daily practice of hospital nurses - the frontline providers of care. In the first large study of its kind, researchers at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing determined that nurses working with EHRs consistently reported more improvements to nursing care and better health outcomes for patients than nurses working in hospitals without this technology.
Patients need help to navigate the health care system and to better manage their own chronic health conditions. New health care delivery models that effectively provide those services have been shown to both lower overall costs and improve patient health.
