LUMEDX Corporation, a leading provider of vendor-agnostic, integrated medical imaging and information systems, announced the completion of an extensive cardiovascular PACS deployment at Iowa Health Systems (IHS). Working together with IHS, a team of technical and clinical experts implemented CardioPACS multi-modality imaging system at ten affiliate hospitals across Iowa and western Illinois in under six months' time. The first site, Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, went live July 3, 2009; by December 16, all ten sites were using CardioPACS.
The Mothers' and Toddlers' Program (MTP) broadens the focus of substance abuse treatment to encompass parent-child relationships. The MTP aids mothers to recognize their own, and subsequently their child's, emotional cues aiming to improve the emotional quality of the mother-child relationship and decrease the mother's preoccupation with drugs.
Noted bariatric surgeon Michael Feiz, M.D., F.A.C.S., believes that there's no time like American Diabetes Month to point out that weight loss surgery is the most effective weapon obese people have in the battle against diabetes.
"The first U.N. emergency airlift flight arrived in" Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, on Sunday, "to assist the hundreds of thousands of Somalis who have fled the drought and famine afflicting their homeland," ABC News reports.
The AARP endorsed the measure, introduced in both the House and Senate, which in 2014 would require Medigap insurers to spend 85 percent of every premium dollar in the group market on medical care.
