A new Walgreens study has found that patients starting high cholesterol (statin) medication for the first time who participated in enhanced face-to-face counseling sessions with a community pharmacist demonstrated better medication adherence than those that did not participate in the sessions.
Intarcia Therapeutics, Inc. today announced positive top-line results from its 52-week Phase 3 FREEDOM-2 clinical trial to determine the comparative efficacy of the company's late-stage investigational candidate ITCA 650 to Merck's Januvia in reducing HbA1c in patients with type 2 diabetes following a year of treatment.
For patients with severe type 1 diabetes, a strict diet and insulin shots are sometimes not enough to sufficiently control their disease. What they need are insulin-producing cells of their own - currently only available through a still-experimental procedure known as islet cell transplantation.
Women with bladder control problems can learn about treatments and techniques to help them manage their condition in a new resource from the National Kidney and Urologic Diseases Information Clearinghouse (NKUDIC), an information dissemination service of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK), one of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
