It's no secret that obesity is a major problem in America. More than one-third of adults and one-sixth of children are obese and it is one of the leading causes of preventable death. A new study published in the journal Epigenetics in February 2020 reports that changes in the methylation status of the Presenilin 1 (PSEN1) gene could help diagnose Alzheimer's disease (AD) earlier. This study shows for the first time that methylation of this gene is a common feature in AD.
The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced the award of $4.5 million in Family Violence Prevention and Services Act grants geared toward domestic violence victims and organizations.
