CarePlus Health Plans, Inc.'s Medicare Advantage plan in Florida achieved 5-stars - the highest possible rating - from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the 2019 plan year.
The Breast Cancer Survivor Coalition for Advancement, Reform and Equity (Because we Care) today praised a House of Representatives committee for adopting an amendment to the "America's Affordable Health Choices Act" (H.R. 3200) that would remove barriers to care for breast cancer survivors.
In fall 2020, thousands visited the COVID-19 public art installation "IN AMERICA How Could This Happen...," which took place just two miles east of the U.S. Capitol. People traveled from across the country to see personalized flags for those who had died. Today, the artist, Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg, with help from the George Washington University and University of Maryland, has launched a digital version in an effort to continue honoring those who have died.
Investigators from the Slone Epidemiology Center at Boston University School of Medicine have reported that African American women who use oral contraceptives have a greater likelihood of developing breast cancer than nonusers. The study results, recently published on-line in Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers and Prevention, were based on data from the Black Women's Health Study, a large follow-up study of 59,000 African American women from across the U.S. conducted by investigators at the Slone Epidemiology Center since 1995.
A Wisconsin state senator blocking health care reform implementation in the state is calling on Gov. Scott Walker's administration to return a major federal grant to build information technology infrastructure for new health insurance exchanges. So far, though, it looks like Walker isn't listening. Wisconsin is the last GOP-led state holding onto its Early Innovator grant.
