In early 2019, Tom Wolf posted a thank-you on Twitter to the cop who had arrested him the previous spring, when he was homeless and strung out in a doorway with 103 tiny bindles of heroin and cocaine in a plastic baggie at his feet.
A new study in Biological Psychiatry reports that smoking-related deficits in brain dopamine, a chemical implicated in reward and addiction, return to normal three months after quitting.
A new grant will support a collaboration between researchers in the U.S. and Australia to study the link between arterial, brain, and cognitive integrity in healthy older adults.
A prospective study by U.K. researchers found that adolescents who are double-jointed—medically termed joint hypermobility—are at greater risk for developing musculoskeletal pain as they get older, particularly in the shoulders, knees, ankles and feet. Findings published in Arthritis & Rheumatism, a journal of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR), indicate that children with joint hypermobility are approximately twice as likely to develop pain at these joints.
On May 4, 2005, the University of Minnesota Transdisciplinary Tobacco Use Research Center released a groundbreaking report that shows there is no evidence that a relatively new line of tobacco products, called "potentially reduced-exposure tobacco products," or PREPs, are safer than other tobacco products.
