The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) has announced that Elaine Buckley, Assistant Dean in the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing at Sheffield Hallam University, has been appointed as their new Chair.
Recently, the researchers had constructed several single molecules with dual hormone action. Now, for the first time, the researchers succeeded in designing a substance that combines three metabolically active hormone components (GLP-1, GIP and glucagon) and offers unmatched potency to fight metabolic diseases in pre-clinical trials.
Among adults at high risk of liver cancer, those who took low-dose aspirin were less likely to develop the disease or to die from liver-related causes.
The 2011 Nobel Prize in medicine has been awarded to Bruce Beutler, Jules Hoffmann and Ralph Steinman for their work on the immune system.
