Although viruses technically may not be alive, their contribution to the dynamic web of life is undeniable. A new book, published by ASM Press, focuses on the role that viruses have played and continue to play in the evolution of life.
Scientists at the Oregon Health & Science University National Primate Research Center and the University of Pittsburgh report significant stress early in life can have varying lifelong impacts depending of the timing of the stress exposure.
The plant Ambrosia arborescens grows at a high elevation in large parts of South America, and is traditionally used as a medicinal plant. The researchers have isolated the sesquiterpene lactone damsin from the plant and studied its effect on cancer stem cells in three different breast cancer cell lines.
Results from an Irish study show that poor insight is associated with increased gray matter volume in subcortical and frontotemporal brain regions among patients with first-episode psychosis, but not in those with chronic schizophrenia.
The American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine is now accepting abstracts for its 2020 annual meeting in Orlando, Florida.
