Eight-five per cent of patients who took part in a survey shortly after day surgery said that they had been anxious about receiving a general anaesthetic, according to research in the May issue of the Journal of Advanced Nursing.
Transave Inc. today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued an important composition of matter patent (U.S. Patent No. 7,718,189) for liposomal aminoglycoside formulations including its lead compound, ARIKACE™ (liposomal amikacin for inhalation). The company expects that the patent will provide exclusivity for ARIKACE until October 1, 2026.
Planned parenting groups are cheering while some religious organizations are unhappy with the move that would require health insurance companies to provide women free birth control, in keeping with new Obama administration guidelines. The Department of Health and Human Services call it "historic" and also say that insurance companies must provide women with other preventive services free of charge.
