First precision medicine trial in lung cancer expands to include more patients

The Lung Cancer Master Protocol, the first precision medicine trial in lung cancer supported by the National Cancer Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health, is undergoing a major expansion to include patients with all non-small cell lung cancers - which make up about 85 percent of all lung cancer diagnoses in the U.S.

A new study finds that in sharp contrast to the overall declining rates of colorectal cancer in the United States, incidence rates among adults younger than age 50 years are increasing. The authors theorize that these increases may be related to rising rates of obesity and changes in dietary patterns, including increased consumption of fast food.
