Experts have called for large-scale studies into altering the make-up of bacteria in the gut, after a review showed that this might reduce the symptoms of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
New research shows that asthmatics who have poor symptom control could be benefited by using a three-drug combination inhaler. The standard treatment for these patients is a two-drug combination of an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) and a long acting beta 2 agonist (LABA). The third ingredient added to the mix is a long acting muscarinic antagonist, add the researchers. This combination successfully improved lung function and reduced exacerbations of asthma wrote the researchers.
Researchers have further analyzed a known signaling pathway they believe brings them one step closer to understanding the complex physiology of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), which might provide a path to new treatment options.
