Scientists have made significant advances towards the development of a technique that could be used to confirm whether someone is infected with variant CJD.
Findings from a new national survey, sponsored by the American Pain Foundation, reveal misperceptions among physicians regarding the misuse and abuse of opioids. The results come in light of government statistics to be released today looking at the broader U.S. population, showing 2009 rates of nonmedical use of these products nationwide.
Life Technologies Corporation today announced that it has finalized cell line license agreements with a number of companies to provide rights to Life Technologies' proprietary CHO (Chinese hamster ovary) cell lines for the production of recombinant proteins used as therapeutic agents and vaccines.

But there is a deeper similarity as well: they both believe deeply in the "magic asterisk." The magic asterisk was the invention of David Stockman, budget director to Ronald Reagan. Stockman, who needed to show a more favorable budget than the Reagan tax cuts would justify, put in an asterisk and noted "future savings to be identified."
InterMune, Inc. today announced results of all three cohorts from a 15-day Phase 1b multiple-ascending-dose (MAD) study of low doses of danoprevir (also known as RG7227 and ITMN-191) boosted by low-dose ritonavir (RTV) in patients chronically infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype-1.
