Scientists have discovered molecular signatures that reveal why women are more likely to develop and die from the brain cancer, glioblastoma.
BIOSAFE, Inc., a company that manufactures and sells a novel antimicrobial polymer, has announced that they are launching in specific markets outside the United States through a unique facemask treated with BIOSAFE(®). Crosstex' new BIOSAFE-treated Ultra Sensitive facemasks begin to reduce microorganisms such as MRSA, VRE, and Staph immediately upon contact, and have further proven to be effective against Influenza A strains such as seasonal flu and the novel H1N1 virus.
A study published today in BioMed Central's open access journal Skeletal Muscle reports of a new therapeutic technique to repair and rebuild muscle for sufferers of degenerative muscle disorders. The therapy brings together two existing techniques for muscle repair - cell transplantation and tissue engineering - specifically, mesoangioblast stem cells delivered via a hydrogel cell-carrier matrix.
Some behaviors — yawning and scratching, for example — are socially contagious, meaning if one person does it, others are likely to follow suit. Now, researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis have found that socially contagious itching is hardwired in the brain.
