As if cancer, heart disease and other diseases were not enough motivation to make quitting smoking your New Year's resolution, here's another wake-up call: New research published in the January 2014 issue of The FASEB Journal suggests that smoking disrupts the circadian clock function in both the lungs and the brain.
Researchers from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health have created a map of the world's chemical landscape, a catalogue of 10,000 chemicals for which there is available safety data that they say can predict the toxicity of many of the 90,000 or more other substances in consumer products for which there is no such information.
In the biggest study of its kind, scientists looking in detail at brain samples donated by people with the condition have identified 49 genes that work differently in the brains of schizophrenia patients compared to controls.
It's called ALF-X and it's the innovative robotic surgical system being used by gynaecological surgeons at the A. Gemelli University Polyclinic in Rome, which has been in operation in the surgical field for a year in the Department for the Protection of Health of Women, Newborns, Children and Adolescents, directed by professor Giovanni Scambia.
GeckoSystems Intl. Corp. announced today that during their first annual "Mobile Robots in Motion" conference November 4-5, 2009 attendees will be able to learn and discuss the expected cost savings and ROI of personal companion robots in an eldercare setting.
