New York Times' The Caucus blog: "Conceding his health care overhaul had 'run into a bit of a buzz saw,' President Obama vowed on Friday to keep fighting for legislation that will 'hold the insurance industry accountable and bring more stability and security to folks in our health care system'" (Stolberg, 1/22).
Baron & Budd, P.C. attorney John Langdoc expressed his support and enthusiasm for a new and innovative initiative by the Washington, D.C.-based Lung Cancer Alliance —called Give a Scan—to make CT Scans and clinical data donated by cancer patients easily accessible to lung cancer researchers. LCA would "de-identify" the scans and data before making the information available to researchers.
The Department of Radiology and Physical Medicine of the Universidad de Granada, in Andalusian hospitals radiotherapy is not used as much as should be expected for the treatment of cancer, in favour of other procedures such as chemotherapy or surgery.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius urged states to participate in the expansion, but said the administration would waive penalties against poor residents for not carrying insurance in states that opt out. Experts, meanwhile, urge the administration to "be flexible" with states regarding the Medicaid expansion. And Wall Street continues to view Medicaid as a growth opportunity.
