The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education task force charged with reassessing resident training program standards today presented a comprehensive set of draft standards that revise requirements for supervision and duty hours to better match residents' levels of experience and emerging competencies, advancing both graduate medical education and quality patient care in the nation's teaching hospitals.
The FluMist Quadrivalent vaccine from AstraZeneca's MedImmune unit protects against two strains of influenza A and two strains of influenza B, and is approved for people ages 2 to 49. Similar to the previously approved FluMist, the new vaccine is a nasal spray that delivers weakened strains of the virus. The vaccine, FluMist Quadrivalent (MedImmune), will be available for the 2013-2014 flu season.
MicroPort Scientific Corporation and Sorin Group, announced today that they have entered into a definitive agreement to form a joint venture to market and develop cardiac rhythm management devices (implantable pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization devices and related devices) in China. MicroPort will hold a 51 percent stake in the joint venture entity, while Sorin will hold the remaining 49 percent interest.
