Dr. Fr-d-ric Charron, researcher at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montr-al (IRCM), and his team have shown for the first time that a key molecule of the vascular system directs axons during the formation of neural circuits.
To help solve this long standing chicken and egg conundrum, researchers led by Jesse Stewart, Ph.D., assistant professor of psychology at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis asked two critical questions. Does depression lead to elevated inflammatory proteins in the human body? Or does an increase in these proteins lead to depression? They found that the answer to the first question appears to be "yes," and the answer to the second question may be "no" among healthy adults.
Pepscan Therapeutics, the Netherlands based biotechnology firm focusing on protein mimicry technology for the generation of novel therapeutics, today announced that it has signed a Research and License Agreement with Tibotec Pharmaceuticals, Ireland. Under the agreement Pepscan using its CLIPS technology will work with Tibotec to develop novel therapeutic peptides against an undisclosed target.
