New research at the University of Adelaide has demonstrated that teenagers born prematurely may suffer brain development problems that directly affect their memory and learning abilities.
In this post in the Center for Global Development's "Global Health Policy" blog, William Savedoff, a senior fellow at the center, responds to a high level panel's assessment (.pdf) of fiduciary controls at the Global Fund to Fight, AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, examining "what this report might mean for an organization that was expressly created to blaze an innovative approach to international aid and is being counseled to back away from that vision."
Allos Therapeutics, Inc. today announced that five abstracts, describing FOLOTYN (pralatrexate injection) data across different types of blood cancers, were accepted in the program for this year's 52nd American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting to be held December 4-7, 2010, in Orlando, Florida.
Just as people have started convincing themselves to eat veggies rather than meat, a new study says that vegetarian and vegan diets just might put them at a 20% higher risk of stroke – though the risk of heart disease is correspondingly lower.
People with type 1 diabetes who rely on insulin injections to control their blood sugar levels are at risk for life-threatening hypoglycemic events in which their blood glucose levels drop dangerously low.
