Still River Systems, Inc. announces successful clinical beam extraction from the first production unit of the world's smallest high-energy proton therapy accelerator. Powerful proton beams are used for the precise treatment of cancer by delivering a highly focused beam of radiation to the tumor while reducing the damage to surrounding healthy tissue and vital organs.
Blood draws are no fun. They hurt. Veins can burst, or even roll -; like they're trying to avoid the needle too, Oftentimes, doctors use blood samples to check for biomarkers of disease: antibodies that signal a viral or bacterial infection, such as SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19, or cytokines indicative of inflammation seen in conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and sepsis.

In the work, patients from 19 hospitals in the north of Spain - including the University Hospital of Navarra - were analysed, as well as from England, Italy, Sweden and Germany.
