According to the latest research on obesity treatments there is now a new weapon in the battle for weight loss. It combines two existing drugs that have resulted in twice as much weight loss as the only approved long-term anti-obesity medication.
A new study presented this week at the Association of Academic Physiatrists Annual Meeting in Atlanta found that a genetic risk score could help predict a patient's quality of life after a traumatic brain injury. Case Western Reserve and Cleveland Clinic are leading development of a computerized tissue-imaging program that could soon help identify which lung cancer patients are likely to face an earlier recurrence of the disease.
The class of immunotherapies known as checkpoint inhibitors have proven to be a highly effective and advantageous treatment option for many cancer patients, but they don't work well for everyone, and oncologists have no reliable way to determine in advance which patients are likely to respond to these drugs.
