According to researchers from University College London, parts of the brain are temporarily "switched off" when we blink.
Roche NimbleGen, announced today a company-wide initiative to implement Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) for its suite of DNA microarrays. The implementation of GMP will cover the full scope of processes from development through manufacturing and will include all locations. The company plans on achieving GMP compliance followed by subsequent submission for clearance or approval of select array products to the US Food and Drug Administration.
Researchers at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA have found that a social skills program for high-functioning young adults with autism spectrum disorder significantly improved the participants' ability to engage with their peers.
If statistics compiled by the U.S. Department of Education are to be believed, in 1992 the state of Illinois had only 322 diagnosed cases of autism among school children. In 2003, according to the same statistical source, Illinois had more than 6,000 children diagnosed as autistic.
