Pervasis Therapeutics, Inc. today announced preclinical data showing positive effects of PVS-30200, the company's investigational cell therapy for the treatment of solid tumors, on controlling tumor growth and inhibiting metastases in an animal model of prostate cancer.
Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine professor and chair of the Department of Neurology, José Biller, MD, an internationally known expert on stroke, is co-editor of a major new textbook, Common Pitfalls in Cerebrovascular Disease.
Liver fibrosis, which is the progressive formation of scar tissue in the liver, is a massive medical problem. An estimated ten percent of the population is affected by liver fibrosis or its corresponding later stage, liver cirrhosis. A variety of causes can lead to liver fibrosis, the most widely recognized ones being alcohol consumption and virus-induced chronic liver inflammation.
A new study led by American Cancer Society researchers in collaboration with leading experts concludes that physical activity should be routinely assessed during the doctor-patient encounter, and that clinicians should design in collaboration with their patients a detailed physical activity plan with goals that should be set and monitored.
