DCIS patients more likely to be alive ten years later than women in general population

Women over 50 who have been treated for ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) are more likely to be alive ten years later than women in the general population, according to new research presented at the European Cancer Congress 2017.

275% rise in dementia cases for Australia over next 40 years: Study

According to an Access Economics study commissioned by the Alzheimer's Australia the number of Victorian dementia patients will quadruple in the next 40 years. At present the figures stand at 66,000 and are expected to touch 246,000 in 2050. The rise is an alarming 275% and is fueled by population growth, reduced physical activity, and an increasingly ageing population. Alzheimer's Australia warns Victorian Health authorities to start planning for measures to curb the epidemic.

High sugary drink intake linked to poor health outcomes in Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander children

More evidence of the association of high intakes of sugary drinks with poor health outcomes, particularly in children, have been found in a new review of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders' nutrition.
