Approximately six million people in India's Delhi territory at risk of contracting tuberculosis

About six million people in the Indian territory of Delhi, or 40% of the territory's population of 15 million, are at risk of contracting tuberculosis, L.S. Chauhan, deputy director general of India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, said recently ahead of the International Union Against TB and Lung Disease's Conference of the South East Asia Region, which begins Monday in New Delhi, IANS/Economic Times reports. The three-day conference will bring together about 500 experts from South Asia and France to discuss the threat of TB and other lung diseases.

High blood glucose levels associated with higher risk of wound-related complications

A new study released today shows that among patients undergoing surgery for chronic wounds related to diabetes, the risk of wound-related complications is affected by how well the patient's blood sugar levels are controlled before surgery. These findings appear in the October issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Occupational Therapists: An occupational therapist is a person who has graduated from an entry-level occupational therapy program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) or predecessor organizations, or approved by the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT), or an equivalent international occupational therapy education program; has successfully completed a period of supervised fieldwork experience required by the occupational therapy program; has passed a nationally recognized entry-level examination for occupational therapists, and fulfills state requirements for licensure, certification, or registration.
