Sale of liver disease therapeutic patents

IpAuctions, Inc. will auction the worldwide biotherapeutic patents previously owned by Cell Works Inc., a Maryland-based biotech company, and acquired by CellPoint Diagnostics, Inc., based in Mountain View, Calif. These patents primarily consist of organ-targeted drug delivery systems to combat liver disease.

New data on Soliris for PNH treatment to be presented at ASH Annual Meeting

Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. today announced that researchers are scheduled to present new data relating to Soliris (eculizumab) as a treatment for patients with paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) during the 52nd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology (ASH), to be held December 4 - 7, 2010 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

Low-dose hormone therapy may be effective in easing sleep issues for recently menopausal women

Study reveals that nondrinkers have higher mortality risk than light drinkers

As a class, people who don't drink at all have a higher mortality risk than light drinkers. But nondrinkers are a diverse bunch, and the reasons people have for abstaining affects their individual mortality risk, in some cases lowering it on par with the risk for light drinkers, according to a University of Colorado study.
