Igor F. Tsigelny, Ph.D., Co-founder and Chief Strategic Officer at CureMatch and research professor at University of California, San Diego, is a co-author of "Genomic landscape of cell-free DNA in patients with colorectal cancer" in Cancer Discovery along with group of colleagues from Duke University Medical Center, University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and Department of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of California, San Francisco, Caris Life Sciences, and Guardant Health, Inc. organized by the Drs. Ryan B. Corcoran and Scott Kopetz.
A team of researchers at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine have identified a new mechanism by which colon cancer develops. By focusing on segments of DNA located between genes, or so-called "junk DNA," the team has discovered a set of master switches, i.e., gene enhancer elements, that turn "on and off" key genes whose altered expression is defining for colon cancers.
Washington Examiner: "Lawmakers in Virginia and Maryland are bracing for a congressional impasse over millions of dollars in health care funding that threatens to thrust both states into the red. The Medicaid funding is set to expire in January, and a measure to extend it is stalled in the Senate over concerns about the ballooning federal deficit.
Yale researchers describe a breakthrough in safe and effective administration of potential antiviral drugs - small interfering RNA (siRNA) molecules that silence genes - the first step in development of a new kind of treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). The work is reported May 4 as an advance online publication of Nature Materials.
