Building robots that can help people with dementia has been a longtime goal for roboticists. Yet until now, no one has sought to survey informal caregivers, such as family members, about what characteristics and roles these robots should have.
ValenTx, Inc., announced today the closing of a $22 million Series B Preferred Stock financing. The round was led by SV Life Sciences and joined by Covidien Ventures, as well as all the Company's existing venture capital investors: Sapient Capital, EDF Ventures, Kaiser Permanente Ventures, Affinity Capital Partners, and TGap Ventures.
Many of our lives have been touched by dementia and with an ageing population the challenge of finding a sustainable solution can seem insurmountable. The recent House of Commons Reception hosted by the University of Derby, however, highlighted some innovative approaches to health and social care development that may enable our workforces to cope with the hurdles that lie ahead.
Modern functional brain imaging techniques are available to psychiatrists and are promising modern-day 'telescopes' to explore in vivo brain activity. Modern psychiatric neuroimaging suggests that only phenomena that may be seen and mathematically computed throughout the scan are real.
