Latin America is facing an alarming increase in cancer rates, and unless urgent action is taken to prevent cancers, improve health-care systems and facilities, access to vital medical care, and treatment of poor people, the region threatens to be overwhelmed by the burgeoning epidemic, say the authors of a major new report on cancer control in the region, published in The Lancet Oncology, and launched at the Latin American Cooperative Oncology Group (LACOG) 2013 conference in São Paulo, Brazil.
Researchers from Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) are recommending that menopausal women on hormone therapy (HT) continue their treatment prior to having their annual mammogram screenings. These recommendations appear as an editorial in the current on-line issue of Journal of the North American Menopause Society.

This is costing pharmaceutical companies time and money, as they re-work the submission format, and incur delays in getting their submissions reviewed and approved. Two-thirds of all electronic submissions to AFSSAPS currently are in the NeeS format.
A Highmark Inc. study published in the March/April edition of the American Journal of Health Promotion found that health care costs rose at a 15 percent slower rate among wellness participants than a comparison group when employers consistently offered a wellness program to their employees.
