("CareView" or the "Company"), an information technology provider to the healthcare industry, announced that it has filed a new patent with the United States Patent and Trademark Office to cover an innovative technology that will assist hospitals and other medical facilities in their efforts to prevent decubitus ulcers or "bed sores" experienced by patients. CareView's new product covered by the pending patent uses the CareView System monitoring system to ensure timely patient movement which assists caregivers in the prevention and treatment of bed sores.
During last week's events in New York, including the U.N. General Assembly, the Clinton Global Initiative, and the Social Good Summit, Devex interviewed several newsmakers on the sidelines of the meetings. WHO Assistant Director-General on Family, Women and Children's Health Flavia Bustreo in an interview with Devex said three challenges to continuing to lower maternal, child, and infant death rates include improving accountability, channeling resources to areas with the least improvement, and keeping a focus on women and children.
Health leaders from around the world gathered on Friday to formally launch a new strategy for eradicating polio, Newsweek's "The Human Condition" blog reports in a post examining the challenges and successes health advocates face in attempting to wipe the virus out completely (Carmichael, 6/18).
