A vaccine against pneumonia and invasive pneumococcal disease, a severe form of bacterial infection, can substantially reduce hospital admissions and improve the survival of children in developing countries, concludes a trial published in this week's issue of The Lancet.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut (Anthem) announced today that they are moving their headquarters from North Haven to Wallingford in 2011. The company has signed a ten year lease with property landlord Workstage-Connecticut, LLC for space in the 300,000-square-foot office building, the Campus at Greenhill, located at 108 Leigus Road. The relocation plan will be in two phases; the first occurring in Sept. 2011, and the second and final phase in Sept. 2012. In all, Anthem will occupy 217,764 square feet of the campus.
Neurons have long enjoyed the spotlight in neuroscience-and for good reason: they are incredibly important cellular actors. But, increasingly, star-shaped support cells called astrocytes are being seen as more than bit players in the brain's rich pageant.
Scanning a premature infant's brain shortly after birth to map the location and volume of lesions, small areas of injury in the brain's white matter, may help doctors better predict whether the baby will have disabilities later, according to a new study published in the January 18, 2017, online issue of Neurology®, the medical journal of the American Academy of Neurology.
Fewer individuals across the globe would be diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) under proposed changes to the most widely used diagnostic tool – potentially impacting clinical practice, national data reporting and epidemiological research, according to an international analytical study led by NYU School of Medicine and publishing May 14 in the journal Psychological Medicine.
