Long recognized for its patient identification leadership, Standard Register Healthcare today unveiled the world's first anti-microbial laser wristband for patient identification at the Healthcare Information Management System Society's Annual Conference and Exhibition in Orlando, FL.
Scientists at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University have designed a new type of vaccine that could be the first-ever for preventing genital herpes-one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, affecting some 500 million people worldwide.
Oxford Gene Technology (OGT), The Molecular Genetics Company, has developed a new range of non-human fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) probes, for pig, chicken and mouse. The probes were developed as part of an Innovate UK knowledge transfer partnership (KTP) funded project in collaboration with the University of Kent, and was given an ‘outstanding' award reserved for the top 10% of KTP projects.
Athletes who undergo arthroscopic surgery for a mechanical disorder of the hip have a good chance of being able to return to their sport at a high level of competition, according to a study that will be presented at the annual meeting of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, held July 15-18 in Providence, R.I. Almost 80 percent of patients were able to return to play after hip arthroscopy at an average of 9.4 months after surgery, and roughly 90 percent were able to return to the same level of competition.
