A federal agency has designated 68 "Patient Safety Organizations" to offer health care providers a way "to share information and learn from problems," Modern Healthcare reports. Fatigue and poor health, anxiety and depression may have a major impact on patients with functional dysphonia (FD), leading to time off work, reduced activity, and social withdrawal, all of which could further perpetuate and/or cause anxiety, low mood, fatigue and reduced voice use, according to new research published in the June 2011 issue of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
Black Diamond Video, Inc. (BDV) announces that Massachusetts General Hospital has selected BDV to integrate their state-of-the-art Integrated Digital Surgical Suites (IDSS) video and audio solution into their new operating rooms and vascular hybrid suites. The IDSS will enhance the quality and efficiency of care delivered by the Massachusetts General Hospital's surgical, nursing, radiology, pathology and clinical engineering teams by providing high-resolution video routing, audio routing, multi-windowing, printing, recording and video streaming.
In a study that included more than 300 Medicare-certified nursing homes, rates of hospitalization and death were substantially increased during outbreaks of norovirus gastroenteritis vs. non-outbreak periods, according to a study appearing in the October 24/31 issue of JAMA.
