Researchers have found that a rare but hard-to-treat form of breast cancer is driven by a newly discovered gene. The gene ZNF703 is the first oncogene to be discovered in five years, and it could lead to more effective treatments down the road, Cancer Research UK said.
New research published in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, shows that children whose parents have osteoarthritis of the knee are twice as likely to develop the condition themselves. This research suggests that genetic make-up plays a role in osteoarthritis development.
According to Millennium Research Group (MRG), the global authority on medical technology market intelligence, hysterectomy procedures as a treatment for menorrhagia and uterine fibroids will continue to decline at a rate of three percent a year through 2015. This decline is due to the growing advantages of less-invasive alternatives, primarily global endometrial ablation (GEA), and uterine artery embolization (UAE).
Pharmacyclics, Inc. today announced the results of two separate Phase 2 studies suggesting that ibrutinib, an investigational oral Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor, showed efficacy when used as a monotherapy in patients with relapsed/refractory mantle cell lymphoma or diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.
