Atrial fibrillation is the most common heart rhythm disorder in the U.S., affecting more than 2 million adults. The prevalence of the condition is rising and scientists predict that about 5.6 million Americans will have the disorder by 2050. Known causes of AF include abnormalities in the heart's structure and long-term uncontrolled high blood pressure.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today updated its website www.fda.gov with information about triclosan, a common ingredient added to many consumer products to reduce or prevent bacterial contamination. It may be found in antibacterial soaps and body washes, toothpastes and some cosmetics—products regulated by the FDA.
The Premier healthcare alliance today announced that new SEEDS agreements for disposable labor and delivery products have been awarded to Kerma Medical Products Inc. of Suffolk, Va. and Genesis Medical Products Inc. of Wrentham, Mass.
