The West Virginia University Injury Control Research Center (ICRC) has just been awarded a five-year grant totaling $4.1 million to continue as one of 11 such federally funded centers of excellence for injury prevention research, education and outreach in the nation, according to the funding agency, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
While other studies have shown that muscle weakness as measured by grip strength is a predictor of unhealthy outcomes - including cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, disability and even early mortality - this is the first to do so for adolescent health over time, a Baylor University researcher said.
Eighty-five physicians affiliated with The Robert Wood Johnson Medical Group, the faculty practice of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, appear on the Best Doctors in America List for 2013.
