The Epilepsy Therapy Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating new therapies for people living with epilepsy and seizures and the parent organization of epilepsy.com, today announced that it has expanded the use of its online epilepsy diary management tool with the launch of a new app developed to run on the Android mobile operating system.
A safety enhanced disposal device could prevent more than 19,000 accidental needlesticks and other "sharps" injuries to healthcare workers, suggests a study published in the current issue of the American Journal of Infection Control.
"This is not unexpected," says Frank Esper, MD, infectious disease specialist at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in Cleveland, after learning of the first case of Zika virus in Ohio, found in a Cleveland woman who traveled to Haiti. "We know people are going to come back and they're going to have the Zika virus."
Replacing biomass and kerosene cookstoves used throughout the developing world with clean-burning ethanol stoves may reduce hypertension and cardiovascular risk in pregnant women, according to new research published online, ahead of print in the American Thoracic Society's American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
Like a smart sensor that adjusts the lighting in each room and a home's overall temperature, a protein that governs the making of other proteins in the cell also appears capable of controlling fat levels in the body.
