Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) are a promising avenue for cell replacement therapy in neurologic diseases. For example, mouse and human iPSCs have been used to generate dopaminergic (DA) neurons that improve symptoms in rat Parkinson's disease models. Reporting in the current issue of the Journal of Parkinson's Disease, a group of scientists from Japan evaluated the growth, differentiation, and function of human-derived iPSC-derived neural progenitor cells (NPCs) in a primate model, elucidating their therapeutic potential.
The science of pharmacogenomics (PGx) studies how genetic variability affects an individual's response to a drug. Most patients metabolize a medication as expected. But some eliminate it from the body before it can do its work, while others process it slowly, causing it to build up in the body and risk an overdose.
The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and LearnSomething.com, Inc. today announced the launch of the Complete Review for Pharmacy Technicians Online, an online course based on APhA's popular national pharmacy technician certification exam preparation textbook.
