Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, has announced that it has been selected by the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) to publish its flagship journal, The Journal of Sexual Medicine, as well as Sexual Medicine Reviews and open access journal Sexual Medicine, as of January 2016.
AirPal, a medical device manufacturer headquartered in North Wales, Pennsylvania, has received notification of allowance from the U.S. Patent Office for its modular system of inflatable devices used to position patients for situations such as difficult airway management, laryngoscopies, diagnostic exams, surgeries, and related procedures.
Heart attack patients are being discharged from hospital care faster than ever, and a new study indicates patients do not experie any adverse affects from such quick release.
"N60" might not be the first thing that comes to mind when people think of Alzheimer's disease, but thanks to researchers from the United States, South Korea and France, this might change. That's because these researchers have found that the N60 section of a protein called "RanBP9" might be the key that unlocks an entirely new class of Alzheimer's drugs, and with them, hope. In a research report published online in The FASEB Journal, these scientists describe how the N60 fragment of the RanBP9 protein increases the production of the amyloid beta protein, which is present in excessive amounts in the brains of people with Alzheimer's disease.
The concept of patients' charters is inadequate and should be replaced with charters of health responsibilities, argues an expert in this week's British Medical Journal.
