Australian researchers have found that in cases of "extreme emergencies," a single ventilator could be used between multiple patients of COVID-19 who require ventilator support. The study titled, "'Ventilator splitting with differential driving pressures using commodity hospital equipment," was published in the latest issue of the journal Anaesthesia.
Researchers at the University of Southampton have developed a new website which gives personalised advice on coping with swine flu and other cold and flu symptoms.
The Obama administration is rewriting new rules on medical privacy after an outpouring of criticism from consumer groups and members of Congress who say the rules do not adequately protect the rights of patients. Hospitals and insurance companies, seeking to maintain greater control over patient notification, generally support the rules.
