Morningside Recovery, a leading substance abuse and mental health recovery center in Southern California, has founded a highly unique, all-inclusive recovery program focusing on compulsive video and online gaming—a growing issue among teen and young adult males.
Drinking tart Montmorency cherry juice significantly reduces high blood pressure at a level comparable to that achieved by medication, according to new research from Northumbria University, Newcastle.
Researchers with the UF Shands Cancer Center have identified criteria doctors can use to evaluate CT scans four weeks after patients undergo initial treatment. If these criteria are met, there is a 94 percent likelihood a patient's lymph nodes are cancer free, said Stanley L. Liauw, M.D., a resident in radiation oncology.
High blood pressure or hypertension is tied to a multitude of complications, many of which are potentially fatal, including stroke, aneurysm, heart attack, heart failure, and kidney disease, among others. Controlling high blood pressure can reduce the risk of developing these complications, and it can be done through many lifestyle modifications.
Approximately one in four patients hospitalized for the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) associated with severe COVID-19 infections may have a distinct phenotype (disease presentation) or biochemical profile associated with organ dysfunction, blood-clotting abnormalities and greater risk of death than patients with other, seemingly similar forms of the disease, researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital have found.
