In a new study from Lund University in Sweden, researchers investigated the risk factors for blood clots, i.e. venous thromboembolism (VTE). The results show a strong correlation between height and VTE risk for both women and men. The risk increases with height.
UBC research shows that chemotherapy can lead to excessive mind wandering and an inability to concentrate. Dubbed 'chemo-brain,' the negative cognitive effects of the cancer treatment have long been suspected, but the UBC study is the first to explain why patients have difficulty paying attention.
GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services announced today that it was the sole lender on a $10 million senior secured multi-draw term loan to InfraReDx, Inc., a medical device company committed to advancing the diagnosis and management of coronary artery and other vascular diseases. The financing will be used to help support product commercialization efforts.
Lactose intolerance is a real and important clinical syndrome, but quantifying its public health burden is challenging.
