The British Medical Association (BMA) has published a report aimed at the "myths" it said the pro-smoking lobby had told to oppose legislation. Doctors are claiming that AMs have been told 'myths' about a smoking ban and they have now have stepped up their campaign to see the Welsh assembly call for a smoking ban in Wales.
A multi-ethnic study in the June 15 issue of the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine reports that there is a statistically significant relationship between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) episodes occurring during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and type 2 diabetes.
"A federal judge says some parts of a lawsuit by 20 states challenging the Obama administration's health care overhaul as unconstitutional can go to trial," The Associated Press reports. "District Judge Roger Vinson ruled Thursday in Pensacola, Fla., that some parts of the lawsuit need to be heard. The administration had asked him to dismiss the entire lawsuit, which was spearheaded by Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum," a Republican (Nelson, 10/14).
A compound derived from broccoli could help prevent or treat breast cancer by targeting cancer stem cells - the small number of cells that fuel a tumor's growth - according to a new study from researchers at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.
