The U.S. Department of Defense recently awarded more than $18 million in funding to a unit of Lonza Group, Ltd. for the development and commercialization of the therapeutic candidate, PermaDermâ„¢ for the treatment of severe burns among U.S. troops and civilians. The funding was announced at a conference celebrating advancements in regenerative medicine on November 9th in Walkersville, MD.
Raptor Pharmaceutical Corp. ("Raptor" or the "Company"), today announced that on December 22, 2009, it completed its registered direct offering with institutional investors, raising an aggregate amount of approximately $7.5 million of gross proceeds (before placement agent fees and offering expenses) through the sale of 3,747,558 units.
Harbor Biosciences, a biopharmaceutical company developing novel therapeutics for the treatment of cancer, metabolic and inflammatory diseases, today released an update to its development program for Triolex to treat obesity-induced insulin resistance and type-2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
Hereditary colorectal cancers, caused by inherited gene mutations, are relatively rare for most patients. However, researchers at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center have discovered a particularly high prevalence of hereditary cancers among those diagnosed with the disease before the age of 35. They suggest that these patients should undergo genetic counseling to determine if their families may be at an elevated risk.
